Description:Known as 'the single malt that started it all' - The Glenlivet was the first licensed distillery in the parish of Glenlivet, established in 1824 and, in turn, defined the Speyside style of whisky which became the heartland of Scotch malt whisky production. The Glenlivet was the very first malt to be promoted in the US, as soon as Prohibition was lifted. The delicate and complex character of the 12 Year Old derives from the height and width of stills at The Glenlivet Distillery. This expression is matured in a mixture of cask types, including American and European Oak. Maturation in American oak imparts vanilla notes and gives the whisky its distinct smoothness. There are notes of chewy resinous wood with a well-balanced acidity. Fudge and Madeira with apple crumble with calvados. The palate is full and rich with winter spice, cinnamon and cloves, thick oak with developing aridity. The finish is long and dry with a peppery note. Description:The Glenlivet 15 year old’s distinctive character is the result of selective maturation, a proportion of the spirit is matured in a selection of French Oak casks for a limited period, so as not to overpower the final result. The Glenlivet was one of the first distilleries to use French Oak in the whisky making process, a technique that has since been imitated by many others. The French Oak also increases the intensity of the whisky, resulting in a richer and creamier finish.

There are notes of chewy sultanas and sherried peels, barley sugars and toasty cereals with petals and apple blossom. A touch of fudge and gentle wisps of smoke. The palate is full and rich with notes of chewy, tannic oak. Manuka honey and walnut with Cox’s apples and orange peels. Cut herbs, fennel and spearmint.
